This PDM® micro cassette is an absorbable synthetic surgical monofilament made out of polydioxanone (PDO), a biodegradable synthetic polymer ideal for biomedical applications.

This PDM® micro cassette may elicit a mild acute inflammatory reaction in tissues before gradually encapsulating the suture through fibrous connective tissues. Absorption of the PDM® sutures occurs through means of hydrolysis and is minimal until only about 9 weeks from the day of the implant. Absorption essentially completes between 6 to 8 months.
